Scholarships & Grants
Scholarships and grants are monies that do not have to be repaid. A list of scholarships and grants offered by the Kirkhof College of Nursing and Grand Valley State University for nontraditional and second degree nursing students are provided below. For further details, GVSU students should log into the Financial Aid MyScholarships website and search by the scholarship name.
Judith S. Pratt Non-Traditional Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship was established to benefit the nontraditional nursing student who has previously earned a BS/BA degree and desires to complete a BSN degree at GVSU. The award amount varies and the application is due annually.
Kendal J. Denbleyker Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist nontraditional students pursuing an undergraduate degree at Grand Valley State University. Must be enrolled for twelve or more credit hours and preference is given to residents of Ottawa or Allegan counties. The award amount varies and the application is due annually.
Margaret "Peggy" Boyce Nontraditional Student Scholarship. This scholarship is intended to encourage and assist Nontraditional students who did not immediately begin pursing a college degree after graduating high school, and have chosen to pursue a Grand Valley degree in addition to their work and family responsibilities. The award amount varies and the application is due annually.
Positive Black Women Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to any GVSU student who demonstrates a successful service contribution to African American women and girls and/or a demonstrated personal commitment to African American Women’s issues. This scholarship is open to all student applicants regardless of their race, creed, color, gender or sexual orientation. Preference to part or full-time, re-entering or nontraditional applicants. The award amount varies and the application is due annually.
Dr. Esther and Enrico Sobong Scholarship. This scholarship will assist students with financial need who are nontraditional students with unique pathways to education including child/family responsibilities, re-entry to college after some significant time away, or exceptional life circumstances due to employment or other challenges. The award amount is up to $1500 and the application is due annually.
