Date and Time
Friday, September 18, 2015 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Description
The first stories and portraits from the Nuestra Comunidad Hispana project will be on display at the Tulipanes Film Festival this Friday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Holland's Civic Theatre, 50 West 9th Street, in downtown Holland. Please join us to celebrate West Michigan's Latino communities!
All are welcome. The event is free and open to the public.
This Friday's film is "Olivados," which tells the story of the 1970s Operation Condor military dictatorships in Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay, stripping the people's freedoms and resulting in tremendous bloodshed. The film's director, Carlos Bolado, will be present to answer questions and discuss the film's creation as well as its implications for today.
Nuestra Comunidad Hispana is a collaborative project among the City of Holland, Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP), Herrick District Library, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, GVSU's Meijer Campus in Holland, and the GVSU Kutsche Office of Local History.
