Computing

Computers and Computer Labs

Computers are available in the Mary Idema Pew Library, Steelcase Library, and Frey Foundation Learning Commons.

  • Mary Idema Pew Library: Computers are on all floors, and are a mix of PCs and Macs.
  • Steelcase Library: Computers are outside the Reading Room, and are PCs.
  • Frey Foundation Learning Commons: Computers are in the Learn Labs, and are all PCs.

Computers require a GVSU login or a Guest login, available from the service desks.

You can see what software is installed on Lab PCs and Lab Macs, or find a computer lab on campus.

You can also check out PC laptops from the service desk at Mary Idema Pew Library, Steelcase, and Frey Foundation Learning Commons.

Adaptive Technologies

All computers in the library and on campus provide basic assistive technologies:

  • Built-in accessibility features in Windows and Mac
  • Assistive software including screen readers, magnification, and read/write programs

The Mary Idema Pew Library also has specialized assistive workstations on each floor with adjustable tables, and in some cases, a flatbed scanner.

Student Accessibility Resources also provides training to students on Assistive Technologies.

Wireless Access

Wireless Networks are available in all library locations.

  • GV-Faculty-Staff and GV-Student are the primary campus networks and require valid GVSU credentials.
  • GV-Visitor is open to anyone. IT has instructions for joining GV-Visitor.
  • eduroam is available for visitors from other participating academic institutions.

Did you know that GVSU students, faculty, and staff can use eduroam when visiting other universities and colleges?
