Hispanic Middle School Program visits GVSU Mathematics Department

As part of GVSU's summer partnership with the Hispanic Center of West Michigan, on June 16 the Department of Mathematics hosted a "Math Festival". The students, who will be starting high school in the fall, participated in several applied mathematics activities, including "Dandy Candies", "The Traveling Salesperson Problem", "Designing Pigpens", "Taxicab Geometry", and "3D Printing". Faculty who led or helped with the events were Edward Aboufadel, Jonathan Hodge, Jon Hasenbank, David Clark, Gul Bulut, Shelly Smith, and John Golden.
