Students Present at MAA Mathfest

Students presented their research at the MAA Undergraduate Student Poster Session “Research in Motion”. Their presentations were

  • The Hunt for New Number Sequences in the Union of Path and Cycle Graphs (Bridget Rozema, Advised by Dr. Feryal Alayont and Dr. Brian Drake)
  • Number Sequences Generated by Edge Covers of Fan Graphs (Marshall Nicholson, Advised by Dr. Feryal Alayont)
  • Edge Covers of Joined Tadpole Graphs (Jarrett Gadziemski, Advised by Dr. Brian Drake)
  • Counting Edge Covers Of Chain Graphs (Ethan Woudwyk, Advised by Dr. Feryal Alayont and Dr. Brian Drake)
  • Intervals in the Weak Order on 132 and 312 Pattern Avoiding Permutations (Evan Calderon of Yale University, Advised by Dr. Brian Drake)
  • Winnability of Threshold Graphs in the Lights Out! Game (Troy Conlay, Advised by Dr. Darren Parker)

In addition, Bridget Rozema and Evan Calderon won Outstanding Poster Awards. The students are thankful for funding for the research and travel from the GVSU Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship and the CLAS Center for Experiential Learning.
