Research areas: Linear algebra, factorization theory, connections between math and music
Current projects: In the same way that there are irreducible integers (usually called prime numbers), we can also talk about irreducible matrices which serve as the building blocks for the rest of the matrices in a given set. Then we can ask what kind of factorizations can a matrix have and what are the properties of those factorizations. Another source of related questions come from representing graphs by matrices and studying what kind of patterns we can find in the powers of these matrices. Other projects explore connections between mathematics and music using linear and abstract algebra.
