The most helpful aspects of my undergraduate education in mathematics were: Classes in combinatorics, statistics, and probability. More generally, I benefited from the ability to learn technical tools from applied math and programming classes, and the ability to think critically from theoretical classes.
The advice I’d offer to current undergraduate students in mathematics: Be proud of the time you spend struggling to understand proofs or do exercises; it's what will make you a good mathematician tomorrow.
In a typical day in my work, I: engage in video slot machine game design (designing the features of the game, computing or simulating expected value, variance, other mathematical aspects of the game)
