The most helpful aspects of my undergraduate education in mathematics were: linear and modern - lots of data modeling concepts become easier when looking at it through those lenses.
The advice I’d offer to current undergraduate students in mathematics: Learn a programming language instead of taking that extra math class - R, SQL, Python are good choices. Getting the first job outside of the mathematics community is the hardest part of getting an undergrad degree - but the techniques learned in classes are applicable to a lot of different domains.
In a typical day in my work, I: architect data products for FPA companies
