MIDDLE EAST STUDIES welcomes Dr. Ron Stockton from the University of Michigan to give a lecture entitled, "Mohammed Cartoons and Religious Images: Blasphemy, Violence, and Free Speech." Dr. Stockton's lecture is inspired by the Danish Mohammed Cartoons controversy which was the first world-wide political crisis of the 21st century.

Dr. Imad Harb is a political and strategic analyst specializing in Levantine, Arabian Peninsula, and Egyptian affairs, and in Arab-American relations. He is Distinguished International Affairs Fellow at the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations and Adjunct Professor at the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University. He also is founder of Quest for Middle East Analysis, a research and consulting firm on Middle East affairs. He has a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Utah. He is most recently author (with John Bruni) of The Domestic and Regional Challenges to American-Iranian Relations (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Emirates Center for Strategic and International Studies, 2015).
