Angelita is a native Michigander who is returning to her home state to join the Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School as Dean of Girls. Angelita’s career began as a teacher for Holland Public Schools where she taught Spanish for grades K-7, served as lead teacher for the FLES program, authoring an articulated curriculum with a team of 6 world language instructors, and oversaw student council. During her summers, she served as the Women’s Dorm Head and the Dean of Students for Northfield Mount Hermon School’s Upward Bound Summer Academy for 9 years before leaving Holland Public to join NMH’s Dean’s office team as an Associate Dean of Students for the academic year. During her tenure at Northfield Mount Hermon School, a boarding school in western Massachusetts, Angelita served as the Interim Dean of Students for the 2017-18 academic year and in her last year at NMH, she served as the Ninth Grade Dean.
She is a lifelong learner who, in addition to her administrative responsibilities taught Spanish, Diversity and Social Justice, and Student Life Seminars. She also lived in large dorms and advised the Latino-American Affinity Club. Angelita is driven to help students grow into the best versions of themselves, and is eager to create the ideal environment for designing, implementing and executing student life programming that fosters critical thinking, social consciousness, and equity in order to create a community that is inclusive, safe and fun.
