Frequently Asked Questions
Who is required to complete exit counseling?
All borrowers who are graduating or have dropped below half-time enrollment are required to complete online exit counseling per federal requirements. You can attend a personalized session with MoneySmart Lakers, but it will not replace the online required counseling. Still, we highly recommend you attend a MoneySmart Session to get all of your questions answered.
Why do I need to complete exit counseling?
The exit counseling session is designed to help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower and help you successfully meet your repayment obligation.
How do I complete exit counseling online?
You will need your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID to access exit counseling online. At the end of the session, you will be instructed to complete the rights and responsibilities checklist. You must complete this checklist to satisfy exit counseling requirements.
