NIARA
Centering the experiences of women identified students of color
NIARA (knee-r-ruh) in Swahili means "with utmost purpose," a name that embodies power, determination, and intentionality.
The NIARA program centers the experiences of women identified students of color. The NIARA program is committed to creating a vibrant and supportive community for women of color at Grand Valley. By centering their experiences and amplifying their voices, we provide platforms for academic, social, and cultural excellence. Through intentional mentorship and dedicated support, NIARA aims to dismantle structural barriers and close opportunity gaps, empowering women of color and gender-expansive students to flourish and lead with purpose. The program was created by students for students.
