  • Sun, May 28: Leave for Prague
  • Mon, May 29: Arrive in Prague 11am (accommodations and welcome dinner) 
  • Tue-Wed, May 30-31: Prague (sightseeing) 
  • Thu, June 1: Train to Ostrava (accommodations in Hotel Maria - 9 nights)
  • Fri, June 2:
    • 10:00-11:30 am: Prof. Karel Steinmetz (Music in Moravia - regional composers and musical culture)   
    • 3:00-4:30 pm: Dr. Michal Místecký (Czech Culture), Studovna Jacquese Rupnika at the University Library 
    • 5:00 pm: "Culture Shock" presentation by Alison Jurišta from the American Center, followed by a meeting with students from the University of Ostrava   
  • Mon, June 5:
    • 5:00-5:15 pm: meet at the hotel lobby
    • 6:00 pm: "Hudební současnost" - Contemporary Music Concert RETURNS  
  • Tue, June 6
    • 11:00 am: morning meeting
    • 12:00 pm: Pedagogy Building, University of Ostrava - tour 
    • 1:00 pm: Dr. Daniela Střílková "Czech Music Education" (same place as Prof. Steinmetz's lecture) 
    • 3:00 pm: ZUŠ Marhuly, meeting with Director Pavla Kovalova
    • 4:30 pm: Student Concert (ZUŠ Marhuly)
    • 5:30 pm: dinner on your own
  • Wed, June 7: Day trip to Opava and Hradec nad Moravicí (Beethoven and Liszt) - OPTIONAL
    • If you do not plan on going with us, you have a free day.
    • 8:00 am: leave for train station
      • There will be an opportunity to eat dinner at a local restaurant, if you chose so, or you can pack snacks and lunch.
    • 6:00 pm: return to hotel 
  • Thu, June 8: Day trip to Hukvaldy - following in the footsteps of Leoš Janáček - REQUIRED
    • 6:15 am: leave for Hukvaldy
      • You can either pack lunch and take snacks with you, or you can buy lunch at local restaurants. They do not take credit cards in Hukvaldy, only cash.
    • 6:00 pm: return to Ostrava  
  • Fri, June 9:
    • 1:00 pm: meeting with music students from the University of Ostrava
    • 4:00 pm: informational meeting (in front of U rady
    • 4:30 pm: dinner with Eva Dřízgová, Veronika Rovná, and Daniela Střílková (U rady)
    • 6:30 pm: Rusalka
  • Sat, June 10: Train to Vienna 
    • 7:00 am: check out
    • 8:12 am: Trol 102 to Ostrava hl. n.
    • 8:44 am: train leaves Ostrava hl. n. 
    • 1:15 pm: train arrives in Vienna

Sat-Sun, Jun 3-4: Free time: You can visit nearby cities such as Krakow and Katowice or explore Ostrava and its historical landmarks, such as the Silesian Ostrava Castle, Vtkovice, coal mines Landek and Michal, or Halda Ema.
