  • Sat, June 10 –train from Ostrava to Vienna, settle in at Royal Living Apartments - take-out dinner from Groissböck bakery and Türkis restaurant - evening walk around downtown area (Stefansplatz, Graben, Kärntnerstrasse)
  • Sun, June 11 – morning, various church services (optional, but good music) – afternoon, Schönbrunn Palace grounds (zoo option) – group visit to Café Dommayer, where Johann Strauss’s orchestra played - optional dinner at a Heuriger
  • Mon, June 12 – 10 am, optional trip to farmer's market in Reumannplatz - afternoon, do work for your projects
  • Tues, June 13 – 1:30 pm, REQUIRED Zoom lecture by Erich Neuwirth (link to be announced) - 3:30, meet downstairs to go to Volksoper (streetcar #6 west, get off at Westbahnhof, take U6 north to Währingerstrasse Volksoper stop) - 4:30, group tour led by performer(s) Wolfgang Gratschmaier and possibly Rebecca Nelsen - short break to find dinner - 6:40, be back at Volksoper, performance begins at 7 (Johann Strauss, Die Fledermaus)
  • Weds, June 14 –Schatzkammer (Imperial treasure chamber) - Kunsthistorisches Museum – two optional concerts: Webern Symphonie (student orchestra) playing Bruckner – Goethe poetry and lieder (Prégardien, Drake)
  • Thurs, June 15 – Heiligenstadt – Beethoven Museum, light meal at Heuriger Meyer am Pfarrhof - two concert options at Musikverein: Pollini piano recital / Basma Jabr Syrian music
  • Fri, June 16 – working day - optional lunch at Ragusa, Croatian fish restaurant – Freud Museum (optional)
  • Sat, June 17 – Brunnenmarkt in morning (optional) - lunch at Kent Restaurant (Turkish food) – afternoon open - 7, Mozart, Abduction from the Seraglio at the Volksoper

    Last three days: more unscheduled time, faculty will be available to help direct you as you work on projects
  • Sunday, June 18 – open day / work on assignments and projects
  • Mon, June 19 – meet with Rebecca Nelsen, an American opera singer in Europe – coffee and cake at Café Sluka, joined by Christopher Gibbs for conversation – see Hundertwasserhaus from the outside
  • Tues, June 20 – open day / work on projects, go to museums on your own, etc.
  • Weds, June 21 – Flight back to Grand Rapids
