Experiential course includes theoretical background and applied skills in secular mindfulness as a college-success tool. History of mindfulness, its scientific basis, its application to daily life; specific skills for working with thoughts, emotions, and sensations; developing capacity to enhance mind-body awareness of present-moment experience. In this student-centered course we examine the relationship between character and leadership. Students will research theories and topics such as servant-leadership, leading change, inclusive leadership, and the moral and mental qualities distinctive to an individual. Working together, students will develop their own definition of character and leadership. Offered fall and winter semesters.
