This course presents an overview of how rock music has evolved from the latter half of the 20th century through current musical representations. Additionally, it is expected that students will learn the ways in which rock music of the past and present represents social commentary and has influenced societal change. A survey of the development of the new and unique forms of expressive and intellectual 20th century musical style from circa 1900 to 1960, including the exploration of impressionism, atonality, serialism, neo-classicism, and other innovations of 20th century master composers.
