Student Visa Update
Published April 7, 2025
Grand Valley recently learned two members of our international student community had their student visas revoked by the federal government.
University leaders learned the students’ visas had been revoked when authorized GVSU staff members decided to review records maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. That review was prompted by media reports about visas being revoked for students at other universities around the country. GVSU has not been contacted by DHS about the reasons for the visa revocations.
Members of GVSU’s Padnos International Center team have reached out to the affected students and are prepared to offer care and appropriate support to our international student community.
International students have been part of GVSU’s campus community since 1963. They are welcome here and contribute much to the vitality of our campus. Students and families with questions or concerns may contact International Student Services at 616-331-3898 or by email at istudents@gvsu.edu.
