Rethinking Dementia: Accelerating Change

Connecting You with Dementia Resources

The Rethinking Dementia resource website is presented by Grand Valley State University's School of Community Leadership and Development.

The resource guide was originally created for three reasons:

  1. Dementia is a growing concern in our community, and it's going to increase as baby boomers age.

  2. Dementia is a stressful, expensive, and emotionally draining disease for everyone.

  3. Although our community has many resources, they are fragmented and disconnected, which makes them hard to find.

We hope this resource website improves the lives of people affected by dementia by promoting better access to quality support and services through innovative community collaboration.

Our History

Memory Loss is frightening and confusing for individuals and families alike. We're here to change that.

In 2015, a group of organizations formed a collaborative that over the course of several years developed a set of dementia resources, connection programs, educational offerings, and collaboration opportunities to help people with dementia and their families.  This resource site was born out of their work and their support.

The GVSU School of Public, Nonprofit, Health, Hospitality and Tourism Management, a long-standing community partner of Rethinking Dementia, began managing the website in 2020. If you have any questions about Rethinking Dementia: Accelerating Change, please email [email protected].
