Research Student Position at GVSU's Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy

We are looking for highly conscientious, responsible, detail-oriented
students who are enthusiastic and self-motivated.
Duties:
• Assist in all phases of
research/evaluation projects as needed.
Tasks include:
• Conducting literature searches
and preparation of reviews/summaries of literature.
• Assisting
with recruitment and tracking of participants.
• Assisting with
data collection including online data sets, telephone, mail, and
internet surveys.
- Assisting with descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.
- Assisting with qualitative data analysis.
• Data entry and management using statistical software (SPSS/STATA or
SAS.)
• Transcribing and proofreading data.
• Filing and
organization of project materials.
• Related support tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Coursework in quantitative methods and/or statistics; aptitude for thinking about data both conceptually and practically.
- Coursework or experience in qualitative analysis.
- Experience with MS Excel and statistical software.
Preferred:
- Experience with quantitative methods and inferential statistics.
- Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, SAS, STATA, or other).
- Experience with relational database design or management
- Experience using various online datasets. e.g. U.S. Census American Factfinder
