Shingi Mavima
Shingi Mavima, who graduated in 2010, graduated from his PhD program in the African American and African Studies program at Michigan State University. His dissertation is titled "Popular Expressions of Pan-Africanism and Southern African Nationalism(s): Transformations, Tensions, and Reconciliations in South Africa and Zimbabwe."
Soon after graduating from GVSU, Shingi attended the Pennsylvania State University's School of International Affairs and graduated in 2012 with a Masters of International Affairs. Since then, he has founded CLUBHOUSE International, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and mentorship programs to primary school students in Mutare, Zimbabwe.
Shingi also published a novel, Pashena. The book, a semi-autobiographical tale, is available on Amazon.
