Jones Wins Venderbush Student Leadership Award
April 07, 2020
Congratulations to Cameron Jones for being this year’s recipient of the Kenneth R. Venderbush Student Leadership Award. The Venderbush Award recognizes one GVSU senior who has demonstrated an exceptional blend of academic achievement and leadership efficacy while making significant contributions to the campus community.
Cameron will graduate this semester with a double major in International Relations and Political Science. While excelling in his studies, he also used his academic and leadership skills to contribute to campus life in many ways. Among them were: serving on the GVSU Student Senate and helping to organize the GVSU Votes! Campaign; creating and leading a new student organization called “Current Issues Forum,” which met regularly to discuss important political, social, and cultural issues; helping to launch the Model United Nations Club and serving as its Financial Officer; and serving as a Fellow in the Hauenstein Center’s Cook Leadership Academy.
In addition to these (and other) campus leadership roles, Cameron also interned and worked for a variety of local and state election campaigns during his time at GVSU.
The Political Science faculty warmly congratulates Cameron on this prestigious award.
