Hoogwerf Presents Research at APSA Annual Conference

Nancy Hoogwerf and Professor Schneider presented their research, Michigan's Climate Policy: The Pursuit of a Sustainable Future, at the American Political Science Association's annual conference in Philadelphia, PA. Nancy worked as a research assistant for Professor Schneider examining the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the environmental goals embedded in these policies, and how the state of Michigan is using the federal legislation to advance the state's policy goals. The conference presentation examined the Michigan Healthy Climate Plan and related public policies that passed into law last year and how it is directly connected to Biden's federal legislation. The goal of Michigan's policy agenda is to launch the state into the forefront as a national climate leader while incorporating the goals of environmental justice and sustainability into the policy landscape. The resulting research paper is currently under review for publication in the journal, Sustainability
