Student Award for Faculty Excellence Presented to Political Science Professor
February 02, 2023
At this year's Presidents' Ball, Professor Miller-Adams of the Political Science Department was presented with the Student Award for Faculty Excellence award, which is given to faculty members who go above and beyond to support and inspire students. Professor Miller-Adams has been a member of the political science faculty since 2006, and specializes in U.S. public policy and international relations.
During her acceptance speech, Professor Miller-Adams thanked the students who nominated her, saying that "GVSU students are an amazing bunch. You come from all over, from different backgrounds and different places – then, you come together here at GVSU and create a community that is supportive, caring and optimistic. Seeing you build that community, semester after semester, is what keeps me coming back."
Professor Miller-Adams is the fourth faculty member from Political Science to win the Student Award for Faculty Excellence, which was first awarded in 2001. The other winners are Professor Rich Hiskes (2015), Professor Polly Diven (2012), and Professor Darren Walhof (2008).
