Ted Woodcock

Ted Woodcock

In 2015, Ted Woodcock received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Grand Valley State University. Ted has plenty of memorable experiences while attending GVSU, especially during his senior year when he was involved in the Cook Leadership Academy. During his time with the CLA, Ted was selected to give a presentation demonstrating his leadership in a real-world setting. His cohort also heard lectures from various political and influential figures. He would later return to participate in a two-year mentorship program for the CLA, remembering it as a rewarding experience.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Ted remained at GVSU to pursue his Master’s in Public Administration, which he received in 2017. Between 2015-2019, while working on his master’s degree, Ted began his career as a Public Service Specialist with Georgetown Township in Ottawa County, Michigan. Within a year of working, Ted was promoted to Deputy Zoning Administrator. Ted had learned the basics of local government, and used his knowledge as a foundation that would lead him to his current position.

Today, Ted is working as a City Planner/Zoning Administrator for the city of Norton Shores, Michigan. Ted is responsible for enforcing zoning ordinances, reviewing site plans for different types of structures, regularly meets with stakeholders such as residents or developers who are planning projects in the city, and he works with different departments and agencies to coordinate other projects. On top of his work responsibilities, Ted also represents Norton Shores in different coalitions throughout West Michigan, which include recreation and housing initiatives.
