Alex Houseman
Alex Houseman graduated Grand Valley State University in 2018 with his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. During his time at GVSU, Alex grew fond of the small class sizes, engaging lectures, and immediate assistance from professors. Alex also enjoyed interacting and networking with fellow students, stating that at GVSU “it was extremely easy to maintain relationships with those outside of the lecture halls when everyone is involved with extra-curriculars and social events on and off campus.”
After graduation, Alex began his career working as a Legislative Aide in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Afterwards, Alex found a new opportunity as the Government Affairs Director for Michigan Realtors.
Today, Alex is working as the Director of Government Affairs for Big I Michigan, a trade association representing independent insurance agents in the state. Alex is the go-to person for policy and legislative initiatives inquired by the association. Alex lobbies with legislators daily to improve the insurance industry, while also ensuring that independent agents are protected so that they can conduct business to further Michigan’s economic growth.
