April 03, 2018
Carl Insalaco, Professor of Psychology and long-time department chair, died in California, Saturday, March 31. Carl was prized by colleagues for his devotion to justice, honesty, and fair play, attributes seen throughout his long tenure as leader of his department, as well as in his early work establishing GVSU's governance system, which included his being Senate chair in the late 1970s. He joined Grand Valley's Psychology Department in 1971 and for 30 years enjoyed the respect of students and colleagues. In addition, he served as a key member of the many committees he was appointed to. GVSU's development into a major university owes a great debt to his leadership, and those who knew and worked with him always regarded him as an excellent colleague and friend.
