The Hubble Space Telescope: More Than 30 Years in Space
Since its launch into orbit in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has upended our understanding of the universe and changed how astronomy is done. This talk will also explain how NASA engineers and engineers overcame Hubble's defective main mirror. Today Hubble is working alongside the James Webb Space Telescope and other telescopes in space and on the ground to make new discoveries about our universe.
Chris Gainor is a historian who was written six books, including the official NASA history of Hubble Space Telescope Operations. He is the editor of Quest: The History of Spaceflight Quarterly and has written for various publications about space exploration.
