LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Victor Cardenas, of Novi, and Megan Sall, of Grand Rapids, to the Grand Valley State University board of trustees.
The eight-person board is the governing body of the University.
"I thank Victor and Megan for their willingness to serve. They are established professionals who will bring great ideas to the board,” said Snyder.
Cardenas serves as the assistant city manager of Novi. He serves on the boards for the Intelligent Transportation Society of Michigan, School of Public, Nonprofit & Health Administration at GVSU, and is chair of the Community Education Committee and the Winter Institute Committee for the Michigan Local Government Association. Cardenas is a member of the International City County Manager’s Association, the International Hispanic Network, the International Personnel Management Association, and the GVSU Alumni Association board of directors. Cardenas earned a bachelor‘s degree from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree from Indiana University. He replaces Michael Thomas.
Sall is business development manager for The Right Place. She served as the program manager and assistant program manager for the International City and County Management Association, a legislative aide to State Senator Judd Gilbert, and a campaign coordinator for Jason Allen for Congress. Sall served as the Downtown Development Authority Director & Community Service Coordinator, the assistant to the city manager, and interned for the City of Wyoming. She earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Grand Valley State University. She replaces Shelley Padnos.
Appointees will serve eight-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
