The Gap Year Service Fair is for students who are interested in taking a year after graduation to explore the world of opportunity and give back through service! A variety of organizations will be in attendance to talk to you about the programs that you could get involved in during your Gap Year!

Plainsong Farm (Episcopal Service Corps) |
A nine-month program for young adults (ages 21-30) offering immersive experiences in regenerative agriculture, spiritual practice, Christian learning, entrepreneurship, leadership, and communal living. Program dates: Summer 2024 (May 18 – August 9) and 2025 (January 26 – October 31). |

The Peace Corps |
Volunteers serve in partnership with host communities in over 60 countries, working on locally prioritized projects while immersing themselves in a new culture. Benefits include a living allowance, professional growth, and access to an alumni network with lifelong career opportunities. |

Michigan Education Corps |
An AmeriCorps program dedicated to serving students aged 3 through grade 8 by providing reading and math intervention. Since 2012, interventionists have helped over 26,000 Michigan children improve their proficiency and brighten their futures. |

Literacy Center of West Michigan |
Literacy of West Michigan is the largest community-based organization in the state and one of the largest in the country dedicated solely to adult literacy and learning. The Literacy Center leads best practice in removing literacy as a barrier to employment, healthcare, housing, and parent engagement. The Center offers excellent preparation for Peace Corps, Fulbright and the other English-Teaching-Assistantship fellowships (offered by other countries’ ministries of education – JET, NALCAP, EPIK and more). |

The Young Center for Immigrants Children’s Rights |
BECOME A VOLUNTEER CHILD ADVOCATE. A Child Advocate is an adult who meets weekly with an immigrant child and listens to their story, journey, and wishes in order to help advocate for their rights within the immigration system while they are subject to deportation proceedings. |

GVSU Office of Fellowships |
Located within the Center for Undergraduate Scholar Engagement (CUSE) at GVSU, the office supports undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni in pursuing inter/nationally competitive fellowships. The office focuses on assisting underrepresented students, providing guidance on awards, action plans for long-term goals, and intensive advising for competitive application proposals. |
