WORKDAY

Workday is used for all student employee hiring and payroll processes on campus. This includes posting and searching for jobs, employment paperwork, time tracking, and paychecks. To help you become familiar with this system, we have created multiple resources for both student employees and student employee supervisors. This includes a student employee website and a student supervisor website that list how-to documents on multiple processes that you will complete in Workday. If you have additional questions after reviewing these documents and resources, please feel free to reach out to our office at [email protected]. We would be happy to assist.

Student Employment works with all University departments and the community to create part-time and summer employment opportunities for students. As part of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, we administer the Federal Work-Study Program university-wide. The purpose of Student Employment is to aid students in obtaining employment that will help finance their education and develop work skills for their future career choice.

Student Employment is a resource for job-seeking students and uses a system called Workday. Workday will not only help students find on-campus employment, but will also assist them in tracking their hours and viewing paychecks.

The best way for prospective on-campus employers to find student applicants is through Workday where you can hire students, approve their time, and manage their employment history. The best way for prospective off-campus employers to reach Grand Valley students is through Handshake where you can post and manage your job posting, customize a job application, and track student applicants.

We look forward to working with you!

We provide an opportunity for practical work experience as a means of financial assistance while at Grand Valley. Student Employment provides an online resource, Workday, enabling students to search for employment opportunities on-campus. We also partner with off-campus employers through Handshake to connect students and alumni to employment opportunities both in west Michigan and throughout the country. You decide which jobs to apply for. You may want to select jobs based on your work experience, location, and interest.

Handshake

STUDENTS

Handshake is the job sharing platform that Grand Valley uses to help students find off-campus employment. Not only does Handshake help students locate off-campus employment, it also has the ability to connect students to internships, part-time employment or even a career after graduation. Students also have the ability to narrow down their search based on their skill set or in a field they are interested in.

OFF-CAMPUS EMPLOYERS

Handshake isn't just limited to the Grand Valley community. Handshake can be a great tool for a variety of businesses and employers to search for, interview, and hire employees. Handshake is also a useful tool for those looking for in-home employees such as a nanny, tutor, housekeeper or assistant.
