Valentine’s Day is just a few short days away, and you can’t stop imagining what it would be like to meet the love of your life on campus. Your mind is replaying every romantic comedy you’ve ever seen, and you’re feeling a bit wistful as the holiday approaches. As you prepare for class this love-filled day, you begin to feel hopeful, so you throw on your backpack and practically skip out the door. Little do you know your rom com wishes are about to come true...
You're walking past the clock tower when…
You look up, snow blurring your vision, and your eyes land on Louie the Laker. He’s walking with President Mantella, but you notice he’s looking back at you. You’re instantly drawn in by his Laker blue eyes and striped shirt. And really, how could you not fall for the man who stands for everything you love about Grand Valley? He excuses himself, walking over to you and strikes up a conversation. You’re thrilled, and somehow the conversation ends with a plan for a first date.
The first date exceeds your expectations…
You decide to keep it local, heading to the ever-romantic Fresh for some delicious pizza and ice cream. The date seems perfect — your conversation flows easily and you have so much in common! You share a passion for Grand Valley (but really, who doesn’t?) and a common love of learning and football. You make plans for a second date and head home with a smile on your face.
Everything is perfect until…
From coffee dates at Starbucks to studying together in the arboretum, you fall for each other more and more each day. But with graduation fast approaching, you’re not sure how to tell him about the out-of-state job offer you accepted. A few days before you walk across the stage, you break the news, and heartbreakingly, it ends your relationship.
You’re heartbroken at the airport…
With your duffel tucked under your seat, you’re waiting for the terminal to take you away from your home for the past four years. When you look up, your eye catches a blur of Laker blue running toward you. It’s Louie, coming to apologize for not supporting your dreams. He pulls you in for a hug, causing familiar butterflies to erupt in your stomach, reminding you that no matter where you go, you’ll always be a Laker for a Lifetime.
