What to do in West Michigan on Fall Weekends?
Posted on October 31, 2017
Trying to figure out what to do on the weekends this fall? West Michigan is the perfect place to enjoy vibrant fall colors, autumn scents, and outdoor activities. Here are some fun ideas to get you started!
#1: Robinette's
Get a picture in Robinette's' giant chair and walk through their apple orchard and corn maze. Be sure to pick up a dozen of their cinnamon sugar donuts and a gallon of their special cider! It’s a great place for a first date or mini weekend getaway with friends!
#2: Post Family Farms
If you have a sweet tooth but want to stay close to campus, check out Post Family Farms! They have cider, donuts, and they’re only 5 minutes away from the Allendale campus. If you’ve never had a donut from here, you have to try one… or two… or seventeen… You’ve made it past midterms. You deserve seventeen donuts. You can also walk through their corn maze and pick out some pumpkins. If you’re lucky, you might be able to spot a couple kittens roaming around!
#3: Pumpkin Carving
Once you’ve picked your pumpkin from Post Family Farms, have a pumpkin-carving contest with your friends and then FaceTime your mom to be the judge. Don’t forget to roast the pumpkin seeds for a nice in-class snack!
#4: The Haunt
Looking to get into the Halloween spirit but don’t really care for scary things? Then the Haunt is perfect for you! It’s a great entry-level haunted attraction. Just be warned: It’s known to have a lot of clowns.
#5: Hike Rosy Mound
Take a hike! Head over to Rosy Mound Natural Area in Grand Haven and walk through the changing trees to Lake Michigan. When you’re finished with your hike, head on over to downtown Grand Haven and grab a bite to eat from local favorite, The Toasted Pickle, or a coffee and a pastry from The Baker’s Wife!
