Academic Advice
First Year Students
- The earliest you can go abroad is the summer of your first year.
- Students may fulfill General Education Foundation and/or Issues requirements abroad.
Sophomore Students & Upperclassmen
- Biochemistry students considering Study Abroad should first schedule a meeting with their academic adviser to discuss options as early as possible. Due to the structured nature of science curricula and the fact that other countries often arrange biochemistry content differently, finding appropriate equivalent courses requires consultation with your advisers and planning out your schedule a year or more in advance is recommended.
- Students may take courses to satisfy requirements in their Major, Minor, or General Education. Students may also apply for research credits while abroad.
- If interested in research, students should first discuss this opportunity with their adviser; they may enroll at GVSU in a research course such as CHM 399 or CHM 499, supervised by GVSU faculty, and earn credit for it while abroad.
- Consider fulfilling your Issues and General Education requirements abroad.
To determine the GVSU course equivalencies for courses taken abroad, please visit our Course Approval page.
Once you have selected a program, schedule a meeting with your academic advisor to discuss your plans.
