Netherlands	English Education in Maastricht	Students will register for a total of 6 credits: Secondary English Ed majors and AL/ESL minors: ENG 365: Teaching ESL (3 credits) ENG 400:* Critical Issues in Literacy (3 credits) Elementary Ed (PCKET & CSAT) students: ENG 355: Teaching ELs, PK-6 (3 credits) ENG 401:** Language, Literacies, and Culture (3 credits) Students who have already taken ENG 365 may substitute ENG 465 or 469. **Fulfills (1) General Education Issues course requirement. Tanzania	Culture, Teaching, & Education	Students can register for 3-6 credits (depending on courses needed) MTH 496: Senior Thesis (Capstone) (3 credits) OR PCKET 495: Senior Thesis (Capstone) (3 credits) OR Non-math majors may substitute this course upon approval from their home department SCI 495: Teaching Science in the 21st Century OR SST 495: Education in Plural Societies (Capstone) (3 credits) OR/AND MTH 386: Study Abroad (3 credits) Honors students: can be used to fulfill HNR 300, HNR 401, or HNR 499 requirements. Ireland	Teacher Apprentice in Ireland	EDI 330/331: Elementary or Secondary Apprenticeship EDI 310: Building and Sustaining Positive Learning Environments EDT 476: Teaching with Technology (if required during apprenticeship semester) PCK 495: SWS Integrated Discipline-Based Research in PK-6 Classrooms (if required during apprenticeship semester) EDR 321: Content Area Literacy (if required during apprenticeship semester) Students seeking the Certificate of International Teaching Experience will be required to take on additional credit of EDI 320 - Section 3 to complete their certificate requirements. *Special education majors contact faculty director for course sequence. ACADEMIC ADVICE

FIRST YEAR AND SOPHOMORE STUDENTS

The earliest you can go abroad is the summer of your first year.
Students may fulfill General Education Foundation and Issues requirements abroad.
Students taking at least 3 credits abroad will fulfill their Global Perspectives requirement.

GENERAL ADVICE

Students may take courses that satisfy some requirements in their Education major or the General Education program. Be sure to begin planning at least six months in advance.
Students should make sure they will have met prerequisites such as language and other foundation courses before they go abroad; it is important that students have prepared themselves adequately in the language of the country they will be visiting to maximize their study abroad learning experience.
Fulfill your teacher apprenticeship abroad through the Spain and South Africa faculty-led programs.
