A Case of Environmental Injustice in the Southeast Community of Grand Rapids
PRESENTERS: Crystal Scott-Tunstall (Faculty), Wesley Watson (Community Member) Kareem Scales (Community Member) ZOOM LINK
The southeast community of Grand Rapids is like no other local community. It holds important pieces of history for local African Americans. It also suffers from several forms of environmental injustice, such as vapor intrusion and access to fresh, safe, healthy, and affordable food. This talk addresses the issues of environmental injustice being endured by the people of the Madison Square and Baxter communities. This presentation will include problems and solutions enacted by the people of these communities, and how these issues are presented as a case study in Environmental and Sustainability Studies classes. Participants will be engaged by a Q & A session with the panelists. Panel Discussion and Q & A
