Cory Morse joined University Communications in 2024 after working as MLive's senior photographer. With almost two and a half decades of photojournalism experience at The Grand Rapids Press and Muskegon Chronicle, his favorite part of being a photojournalist was telling the stories of the West Michigan community.
Cory has been recognized for numerous photojournalism awards including the Pictures of the Year International Awards and National Press Photographers Association. He has won the Michigan Press Photographers Association’s most prestigious photojournalism project award -- Barry Edmonds Michigan Understanding Award -- three times (2009, 2019, 2023), both individually and as part of a team. Cory won a 2021 Michigan Emmy Award in the Environment/Science News category for a Great Lakes video project with an MLive environmental reporter. He is excited to bring his visual storytelling experience from MLive's award-winning staff to GVSU's award-winning University Communications department.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University.
At home, Cory enjoys spending time with his wife, teen-age daughters and hiking with his spirited German shepherd.
