FREE WEBINAR - Brexit: Implications for U.S. Exports,  Investment & Trade Policy

On June 23, 2016 the citizens of the United Kingdom voted to exit the European Union. Brexit comes as one of the most surprising turns in European integration and trans-Atlantic trade following decades of an ever expanding European Union and EU market. Please join the U.S. Department of Commerce and the British American Business on September 9th 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern USA time to hear about the Brexit vote and its effects on trade and investment.

Although the UK voted in the June 2016 referendum to withdraw from the EU, it will remain a full EU member with access to the EU single market until it formally leaves the EU. This is expected to occur no earlier than January 2019 (this is largely speculative at this stage – recommend not putting a timeline at all here as it remains a moving target). The UK remains a strong destination for U.S. exports for the foreseeable future.

At the same time, the United Kingdom is beginning a number of processes to carry out the UK public’s vote which American exporters should keep in mind as they conduct business with the United Kingdom. These include negotiating the terms of the Brexit with the EU, and the UK’s subsequent negotiation of its trade relationships with other countries, including the United States. This process is expected to take a number of years.

This webinar will provide U.S. companies doing business in the United Kingdom, or considering future business in the United Kingdom, with a discussion of the effects of Brexit on their international business and U.S. trade policy initiatives with Europe.
