Biography
Miranda Graham, artist, speaker, and educator, is a rural Illinois native with a background in community outreach. She taught and collaborated with inner-city public schools and outreaches in the greater Chicago and Peoria areas to promote active allyship and foster creative access and exploration among urban Illinois's disadvantaged, homeless, and special needs youth. As an educator, she is inspired and encouraged by the prospect of remaining a lifelong student, forever finding inspiration and potential in her dedication to research and image-making.
Miranda is creatively motivated by exploring the complexities of portraiture and storytelling by accessing imagery and colors that challenge preconceived notions of beauty. By examining marks of healing through a lens of augmented curiosity, she aims to reframe our perception of trauma by creating new memories and mythologies for the marks that define us.
As a published and exhibiting artist, she's shown nationally and internationally, most recently with a curated show in conjunction with Art Basil, Miami. She is currently invested in exploring an experimental photographic series investigating the connection between the human figure and natural landscape. This series is ongoing.
