Documentary produced by Film and Video Production students to be screened by National Campaign against sexual assault

Last winter, Lauren Holt, Baylie M. Rajter, David Astudillo, and Skylar Healy received an assignment from Professor Kim Roberts while in Media Production II. But they had no idea how far their work would go past the four walls of their Media Production II course classroom.
Back then, the students had decided to create a documentary on Jeannine Lane. Lane is a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority at GVSU and National Delegate for "It's On Us", a national movement to end sexual assault. The campaign aims to engage everyone in the conversation to end sexual violence. It asks everyone to step up and realize that the conversation changes with us. The campaign works with 95 partners and students on over 500 campuses.
After completing the production, the group kept in contact with It's On Us and the established connection brought good results. First they asked the students to use their video in some of their national summits. Also, last October It's On Us launched the Greek Leadership Council. This is a coalition of fraternity and sorority member groups committed to being a part of the solution to end sexual assault.
The group was ecstatic with not only the news but also with the help their short film will have in such an important initiative. Hard work and professionalism took their names to a national reach. Lauren Holt shared a bit of wisdom to the current Media II students:
"If I could talk to a Media II class now, I would tell them that just because you aren't in 'Fiction II' or 'Producing For Clients', doesn't mean that you shouldn't take your projects very seriously. I would also tell them to make their projects as professional as possible because you don't know where it may end up."
