GVSU Studio Art Alum participates in the 2017 East Lansing Arts Festival
May 25, 2017
Steve Anderson is bringing his art to the East Lansing Arts Festival. What has been now a tradition of over 30 years, will once again be on display at the annual art market.
Anderson, a Cedar Springs resident, is the founder and owner of Anderson's Metal Sculpture, a now family-owned business with over 40 years of building metal sculptures.
Steve became an entrepreneur right after his graduation from GVSU, from where he received a B.S. Degree in Art and a Business Minor. The BS degree allowed him to experiment with all forms of art including painting, sculpture, and jewelry. That was the time when he connect with the 3D realm of art making.
Steve calls himself a "nature sculptor", always referring to the natural environment for inspiration. His company builds metal sculptures, outdoor pieces for gardens and, occasionally, some kinetic work. His main materials are copper, brass and stainless steel.
Besides the works in his catalog, Anderson has created some commercial projects for the Tanger Outlet Mall in MI, the city of Rockford and the city of Cedar Springs.
