Randi Ford (BFA, Illustration) was recently featured in the local newspaper Sturgis Journal, for her accomplishments as a painter and Sturgis native.
Since graduation, Ford, now a Grand Rapids resident, has been showing her work in fine art festivals along the Lakeshore of Lake Michigan and is represented by three art galleries: LaFontsee Galleries (Grand Rapids and Douglas, MI), Somebody's Gallery (Petoskey, MI) and Higher Gallery (Traverse City, MI). With her work, Ford hopes to bring attention to the beauty in nature and it’s importance in our world. She often listens to music while creating her work and its influence can be visually seen in the pieces through their movement. My paintings feel as if they are dancing and come to life with the patterns and rhythms I create with her strokes.
This fall semester, Ford is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Visual and Media Arts, teaching Foundations: 2D Design. You can see Ford's work on her website, available here.
You can read the article on Ford at the Sturgis Journal site, available here.
