Earlier this year, Bopi Biddanda traveled to Granada, Spain on his Fulbright Scholarship. Here he worked with Spanish collaborators who study glacial lakes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, which are increasingly feeling the effects of global climate change. In this opinion piece in EOS, a science news outlet run by the American Geophysical Union, Bopi and friends detail the importance of glacial and periglacial ice that feeds high mountain lakes, which can serve as Mountain Water Towers that provide water to people and ecosystems downstream.
