Graduate student Deb Dila and Bopi Biddanda authored an article on land-to-lake carbon metabolism that was recently published in The Journal of Great Lakes Research. The paper covers a study of the carbon cycle year-round from Cedar Creek (a Muskegon River Tributary) to Offshore Lake Michigan. Along this land-to-lake gradient, they found that Muskegon Lake, which connects the Muskegon River to Lake Michigan, is a "Goldilocks" zone, where rates of carbon processing are maximized.
