In the Margins

In the Margins is a club for poets and creative writers to meet other writers, share their work, and get some writing done! This group is intended to be an inclusive space where people of all identities and backgrounds feel welcomed and safe to share. We meet weekly for an hour that includes writing activities, writing skill building exercises, and community building. Often, members will stay afterwards to have an informal open mic where they can further share their work. We accept members of any level of writing experience at any time, and we feature prompts and activities for poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction. At the end of each academic year, In the Margins publishes a lit zine that showcases the writing and artistic works of our club members.

In the Margins meets weekly on Mondays from 9:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m. virtually. Students can join at any point of the year. To find more information about our club and links to our meetings, follow us on Facebook at GVSU In the Margins Poetry Club or become a member on LakerLink. If you have any questions, feel free to contact In the Margins president Austin Kienutske.
