ONGOING DEVELOPMENT

New features and enhancements are currently under development, such as augmented reality, tablet optimization, and the ability for faculty and students to submit their own contributions. The app was built by the GVSU Applied Computing Institute and students in the School of Computing and Informations Systems by utilizing the Art Gallery's online collection database

OPEN-SOURCE RELEASE

The GVSU Art Gallery has now officially released the app codebase under the Apache-2.0 license for open source projects. This means that any institution may now use and edit this codebase for their own collections. The current feature set supported includes:

  • walking tours with geolocations
  • object details
  • full searching capabilities
  • QR label scanning
  • saving and sharing favorites
  • augmented reality

There are currently two GitHub repositories for this project, one for iOS and the other for Android.
