What is your current position and what do you find exciting about it?
Currently, my position is titled, Executive Director of Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism at Amgen. Simply, that means I lead a group that investigates how drugs (small molecules, biologics, siRNA, etc.) are absorbed, metabolism, distributed and excreted from the body. The most exciting part of my job is the people, the culture at Amgen is very focused on team, I have great colleagues; we have the honor to work together to bring solutions to patients.
How did your GVSU Chemistry/Biochemistry degree help you prepare for your position?
My time at GVSU prepared me scientifically to have an array of options after graduation. I accredit this to the engagement of the Chemistry professors. One piece of advice I would give recent graduates is to not limit yourself, utilize your strengths to find a position that is a good fit, both personally and professionally.
