Looking for an area to direct your gift? Our current highest areas of need for our students and our university are outlined below. Major Priorities are those projects that have longer term impact, while our Ongoing Needs are those funds that have a more immediate impact on student success throughout the academic year.

Scholarships

To improve access and affordability, we need donor support for our endowed and annual scholarships. While growing, these donor-funded scholarships continue to support a small percentage of our student population. You can help to provide additional funding where it is most needed for students. Learn More.

Student Support Fund

Our students are doing their best to navigate the challenges of the past year, but many of them are still struggling. The Student Support Fund helps Lakers experiencing unexpected financial or personal hardship complete their education and graduate. Learn more.

AWRI
Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute

AWRI was created 35 years ago and was the first freshwater research, outreach, and educational organization working in West Michigan, for West Michigan. Its work is firmly focused on the future, at the intersection of our region's economic and environmental vitality. Your support will expand this important work. Learn more.

HBCU First Cohort
HBCU/HSI Consortium

The consortium is a collaboration with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) to provide greater opportunities for multi-cultural students to find real, meaningful positions in West Michigan. It addresses both the needs of students and employers in a supportive, holistic approach that is uniquely provided through a Grand Valley education. Learn More.

Grand Valley Fund

Support the university’s highest priorities for students each year.

Laker Family Fund

Join other parents and families of current students to support the highest priorities for student opportunities outside of the classroom each year.

Momentum Fund

Help returning students who are experiencing financial hardships to continue their studies.

Supplies for the Replenish Food Resource

Provide students with food and personal care items to meet short-term challenges.

Student Textbooks, Technology, and Supplies

Provide financial support for students to purchase textbooks, computer software and technological supplies, and other expenses needed to complete coursework.

Harris Family Athletic Complex
Harris Family Athletic Complex

The Harris Family Athletic Complex was dedicated on September 13, 2023, thanks to all of the donors who supported the project. The 22,280 square-foot addition to the Fieldhouse, and renovation of a section of the existing Fieldhouse, supports multiple activities for various student groups, clubs and varsity athletics teams including the recently revived Varsity Wrestling program.
