Fellowships Office hosts workshop for Gilman, Critical Language Scholarship applicants; applications open now

Grand Valley's Office of Fellowships was one of three colleges and universities nationwide to be selected to host a joint Critical Language Scholarship/Gilman Scholarship workshop, which included presentations from 8 GVSU Gilman and CLS Alumni and advisers from 50 colleges and universities in 39 states, provided in-person support and tips for successful applications to these study abroad programs, which are funded by the State Departmentýs Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Grand Valley alumnus awarded highly selective Phi Kappa Phi fellowship

A Grand Valley alumnus has been awarded a highly competitive scholarship by Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society.  Scott St. Louis of Midland, Michigan, was selected as a recipient of a Marcus L. Urann Fellowship, named after the society's founder. St. Louis is one of only six recipients nationwide to receive the prestigious $20,000 fellowship.

Six Grand Valley State University students and alumni have been selected as semifinalists for the 2019-20 Fulbright U.S. Student Program to teach English or conduct research overseas next year.

Grand Valley named a top Gilman producer, 11 students selected for awards

Grand Valley has been named the Top Producing Institution for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program in Michigan, as well as the top producer of award recipients who are student veterans. The university was also recognized as having the greatest growth among students who have a disability.

Grand Valley State University students earned more nationally-competitive Gilman Fellowships for the 2016-17 academic year than any other college or university in Michigan, and ranked in the top 25 Gilman Fellowships-producing schools in the nation.
