Club Sports Operations Internship

Job Description

This position works up to 25 hours per week. Main responsibilities include execution and management of all club sports events, administrative work with club leadership on practices, travel, and participant registrations. This position reports to the Club Sports Coordinator.

We are currently not hiring for this position. 

Duration: This position is anticipated to work both fall and winter semesters. Must be available to work nights and weekends as required.

Hours: Part-time, flexible hours up to 25 hours per week

Location: GVSU Allendale Campus

Compensation: $11.07 - $11.57/hour.  SPM 390 & 490 applicable w/ approval.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications required for the position. CPR / First Aid Certified is provided if hired.
  • Strong organization, time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others, as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Background in sports, recreation and/or related field.
  • Attend trainings, meetings, and in-services as required.
  • Currently enrolled GVSU student.

 

This internship is SPM 390 & 490 applicable

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee student event managers and game operations for club sports events, including set up, tear down, and crowd control. Act as a department and university liaison during club events.
  • Provide administrative support to all clubs including, but not limited to travel coordination, registrations, maintenance of equipment, and scheduling.
  • Manage/Facilitate Risk Management and emergency action processes and requirements as outlined by Club Sports. 
  • Communicate with club leadership/coaches, Club Sports Coordinator and Athletic & Recreation Facilities on all event needs.  Develop game day plan of actions for each sport.
  • Works closely with Sports Promotions Intern to support and promote all clubs and their events.
  • Maintain the professional standard for delivery of all programs
  • Follow all Recreation and Wellness policies.  Be familiar with, comply, and assist with enforcing various national governing body and GVSU policies. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Main responsibilities include execution and management of all club sports game day promotions, oversight of club sports of social media and other departmental communications, as well as administrative work with club leadership on marketing/branding, apparel, and gvsu.edu/clubsports. This position reports to the Club Sports Coordinator.

  • Works closely with Game Operations Intern to support and increase exposure of all clubs and their events.
  • Manage/Facilitate Risk Management and emergency action processes and requirements as outlined by Club Sports. 
  • Maintain the professional standard for delivery of all programs.  Appearance must be professional and supervisors are required to wear staff-issued/approved attire.
  • Follow all Recreation and Wellness policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
