STEPS 2024

Week 1: June 10-13 & Week 2: June 17-20

Welcome to STEPS at Grand Valley State University!

Science Technology & Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS) Camp is a day-camp preview of science, engineering and technology for rising 6th-8th grade students.  The theme of airplane flight is utilized to integrate technical classes and recreational activities, all the while encouraging social development and personal growth.  The students, in teams of roughly twelve, each manufacture and assemble a radio controlled airplane with the assistance of teachers, counselors, and volunteers.  By the end of the week, the students fly their airplanes at a sanctioned fly field, with the help of certified pilots.  Throughout the week, they learn theory of flight, utilize manufacturing equipment and tools, and ultimately learn a lot more about their own personal capabilities and potential.
